Surreal Steampunk Gentleman on Clockwork Gear

A surreal impasto oil painting in the style of late-19th-century post-impressionism, featuring a stout gentleman in a [tall top hat] and a patterned [ochre, cobalt, rust, and cream] mosaic suit balancing awkwardly on a [giant bronze gear]. His waist opens to reveal an exposed clockwork mechanism of intricate brass gears. He leans forward with outstretched hands to maintain balance, one heavy leather boot on the gear and the other lifted outward. His face is obscured by a centered vertical rectangular censor block in [warm brown]. The setting is high above a sunlit canal city featuring a historic bell tower, arched waterfront facades, and distant terracotta rooftops along shimmering water. Swirling painterly clouds and scattered gold brushstrokes fill an airy blue sky. Thick visible brushstrokes, heavy tactile texture, bold blue-and-gold color contrast, luminous warm highlights, and a whimsical steampunk atmosphere. Large central framing with the gear beneath him and the city receding into the depth below.
