Seedance 2.0 and 2.5: AI video models, prices and examples

Seedance is ByteDance's family of AI video models. This page compares the four versions you can use on GPT Image Hub, shows real clips made with each one, and explains how the price of a video is worked out.

Short answer

Seedance turns a text prompt, a first frame, a first and last frame, or a set of reference images, videos and audio into a video clip with sound. On GPT Image Hub, Seedance 2.0 Mini and 2.0 Fast make low-cost 480p–720p clips, Seedance 2.0 goes up to 1080p and 4K, and Seedance 2.5 makes clips of up to 30 seconds. A 5-second 720p clip costs about 379 credits on Mini and about 757 on Seedance 2.0.

Prices are estimates in credits at the official per-token rates; you pay for what the finished video actually uses. All four versions returned video with sound in our tests.

Four ways to start a video

Text to video: describe the subject, the action, the camera movement and the light, and Seedance builds the whole shot.

Image to video: add a still image and the video starts from it, so the look of the first frame carries through the clip. Choose Match image to keep the image's aspect ratio. A good first frame can come from the image generator or any prompt template in the library.

First & last frame (Seedance 2.0 models): add two stills and the clip moves from the first to the last, which is useful for transitions and before-and-after shots.

Multi-reference (R2V): add reference images, videos and audio and cite them in the prompt as @image1, @video1 and @audio1, for example a character, a product, a camera move to copy or a soundtrack. Seedance 2.0 models take up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio files; Seedance 2.5 up to 30, 10 and 10. A reference video is billed by its length too.

Every mode supports 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 and 21:9, so the same idea works for YouTube, Reels, TikTok and square posts.

How Seedance pricing works

Seedance is billed by tokens, at the same per-token rates as MaxAPI's official route. Each second of video uses width × height × 24 ÷ 1024 tokens, so the price grows with resolution and length, and each version has its own price per token.

When a video starts, the estimate plus 10% is held from your credits. When it finishes, you pay for the tokens the video actually used and the rest comes back. Failed videos are refunded in full.

The cheapest clip, 4 seconds at 480p on Seedance 2.0 Mini, costs about 137 credits. Credit packs start at $1.99 for 1,500 credits, with no subscription.

Prompt tips for Seedance

  • Write one shot per prompt: the subject, what it does, where it is, then the camera movement.
  • Name the camera move, such as slow push-in, tracking shot, aerial view or handheld close-up.
  • Describe the light and the weather; they set the mood of the clip.
  • Mention the sounds you want, such as rain, waves or crowd chatter, so the audio fits the scene.
  • Test an idea with Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p, then make the final version with Seedance 2.0 or 2.5.
